Shipping and Taxes

The taxes and shipping options displayed in the app are determined by Shopify. To accurately calculate taxes and display available shipping options, Shopify requires a shipping address for the quote. This information can be included in two ways.

1. Shopify Customer

On the quote detail page, there is an option to assign a Shopify Customer. Clicking this option will allow you to search your Shopify store for an existing customer. If the selected customer has a default address, Shopify will use this address to calculate the taxes and display the available shipping options. The app only uses the default address of the customer, it does not use any of the other addresses that a customer may have saved under their account.

Note: There is also an option in the app settings that will allow the app to create a new customer in Shopify and assign it to the quote automatically when the quote is requested.

2. Shipping Address Custom Field

If you include an address field with the type "Shipping Address" in your quote request form, then Shopify will use this address to calculate the taxes and display the available shipping options.

Address fields can be added to the quote request page through the Custom Fields page in the app. Learn more about Custom Fields

Add Taxes

Taxes are automatically calculated and added to the quote based on your tax rules for the customer and shipping address.

Note: If the customer is configured as Tax Exempt in Shopify, then no taxes will be added to the quote.

You can disable the tax calculation for a quote by selecting the Estimated Tax link and deselecting the Charge Taxes option.

Add Shipping Rates

1. Select the Add Shipping link in the footer area of the quote.

2. Select from the available shipping options, or enter a custom shipping rate.

If you only see the free shipping and custom options, make sure that you have a shipping address custom field or a customer assigned to the quote with a default shipping address.

3. Press Save

You can edit and remove the shipping rate of a quote by selecting the Edit Shipping option

Set default shipping rate

You can set a default flat rate shipping option that will be applied to all new quotes.

1. Navigate to the Settings page

2. Scroll down to the Default Values section

3. Locate the Default Shipping field

4. Enter the shipping name and price.

5. Choose whether to show the default shipping price on the quote request form

6. Press Save
